Portrait session in Rottingdean with Lisa

Rottingdean portrait photographer offering natural outdoor lifestyle portrait photography in Sussex. Woman posing in front of tree with blossom in Rottingdean.

This blog post is all about my portrait photo shoot with Lisa, from TruetoSelf Success Coaching. After a 30-year career in the corporate world, Lisa chose to make a fundamental change in her career and decided to set up her own coaching business - such a brave and bold move! She now helps people in midlife (45+ onwards) who feel misaligned in their career to find more meaning and balance in their work, so they can get the joy back in their lives - something I can totally get on board with!

ABOUT THE SHOOT

Lisa lives in Woodingdean, Brighton and wanted a natural look and feel to her portrait pictures so as a shooting location we chose Rottingdean and we had a lovely walk together in some gorgeous Spring sunshine. We started off at the Kipling Gardens - there were some lovely trees with gorgeous blossom when we did our portrait session so we definitely wanted to include those lovely, natural colours as a backdrop for Lisa’s headshots.

We then made our way to Beacon Hill - where the Rottingdean Windmill is. I love going there with my husband and my little girl - you have a great view from the top of the hill and you can also visit the windmill on certain dates.

I always try to incorporate a little walk in my personal branding, portrait and headshot shoots. When walking it’s easier to build that relationship with your client. It’s a way of making them feel more at ease in front of the camera.

After Beacon Hill it was time for our final shooting location: Rottingdean Beach! We took some professional headshots near the water, sitting down on the beach, and we also used the rocks as a lovely backdrop.

I really enjoyed our portrait photo shoot and loved finding a way to incorporate Lisa’s warmth, and funny and kind demeanour, in her images for the new website. It was one of those shoots that felt very organic and creative. Below are just some of my favourite pictures!
